Hot Rod Alternator Generator

How can I use this. It has a Generator light on the instrument panel, but my system runs off of an alternator.I am rewiring my 1954 Ford Customline.I`m rebuilding my 56 Chevy 210, installing a 350 small-block, and want to upgrade to an alternator (standard chevy stuff, not a 1-wire unless I need. "GEN" light came on last week, pulled the generator replaced the 60% worn brushes, sanded & cleaned internals,I really fancied a generator, but worried about being stuck in traffic and it it not charging… then by chance a `Powermaster, PowerGen` (generator look a like alternator) popped up on ebay that had been bought but unfitted
